Who We Are

We are only someone whose inspiration has been lit up by the love we have to our hometown. Gratefully, we are always keen to see it and its people moving to the better. We are only a small and very new team, formed by university teachers and students who teach and learn not only how to analyse, culculate, and apply the artificial knowledge on papers, but also how to give more and take less to others and put it in our real life experiences. We are committedly working on teaching project after school with strong passion and intention to contribute valuable things back to our communities and fellow children after we seem to have got more opportunities. There we teach the kids and learn from them and their communities at the same time. Our mission is not big in size,as we are not those who lead our country to overcome the economical crisis, but it can fulfill our hope and make our hearts becomed immensely bulged with joy and delight. Even if our strong intention, effort, and deeds cannot be measured by monetary outcomes, we are always awarded by those perfectly pure and happy smiles of small pupils.

It is beyond a bliss to debut our two-day English camp to the kids and we shall call it a successful event. The camp takes place at Suan Mor-Lua Suer Gok, in Baan Lau Suer Gok, Lau Suer Gok district, Ubon Ratchathani. It is Ajarn Metee Kansa's land, a small forest, on which our teaching project is based. The campers are primary students, our old-timer pupils, while some are interested representatives from different schools in Lao Suer Gok and nearby districts.

After we have been waiting for this vicility of time days by days, our last day for this inaugural camp preparation comes to the end. For sure, it means that the camp is starting tommorrow morning.

We are heading off to the Baan Lau Suer Gok since the first light of the day. Some of the staff yell out excitedly "Going to the English camp". Then it is followed by encouraging smiles and some cheerful laughter.
Not so long, the car brings some of us from Ubon Ratchathani University to the village. Along the way to our destination, one by one, our staff jump onto Ajarn's car before we all together arrive at the village 40 minutes later.

After we got there, an old village is lying peacfully on a huge area and in a heat of the April's sun. The villagers are busily preparing for their work but they do not forget to welcome us with their warm-hearted smils.
The first place we drop by is Pha Aum's house. It is where we are staying during the upcoming event. It is a two-storey wooden house with some parts of it are reconstructed by concrete. We just do not want to call it our base but our house, at least for temporary period, for the host family is so nice and friendly to us. There, we are welcomed by local breakfast--plenty of foods.

At the Suan Mor-Lau Suer Gok (University-Lau Suer Gok village), some of our kid members are getting a long very well with their new friends who are specially welcomed from other areas for this historical event. It seems not to be easy for our staff at all to run the activities in the hottest month of the year, but we try our best to make this camp a edutaining and viable camp. However, the kids seem to do it better with more energy and enthusiasm. Luckily, we are relieved because many big, small or tiny trees are all around.

That day the sun is working so hard, but we are working harder. While the weather is so hot, our staff are hotter in entertaing and teaching.

Name: Foon
A Management Science faculty first year student
Age: 22
When I firstly heard that Ajarn Metee is teaching English to village kids at his hometown and needs volunteers students to help with the project, I suddenly say 'yes' to be one in the team. Today, all of us are having a lot of fun. We feel a little bit tired, but we also want to teach kids and want them to be good at English. I do not feel disappointed at all. Instead, I would feel very desperately disappointed if I did not decide to do this.

Name: Pui
A third year Engish and Communication student
Age: 22
"Ex and I am teaching at rotation 1. It is about subject verb agreement. Well! It is quite difficult because some kids are very lower than our lesson is. Anyway, overall is good and I personally like it."

Name: Goft
A fourth year student, majoring in Engilsh and Communication
Age 23
"We are utterly exhausted, but our exhaustion has been totally alliviated by the kids' enthusiasm and good participation. We are doing our best for the rest kraab."

Here is our backstage team. They are working secretly and supportively behind the scenes. They are our Pha Joy, Pha Tueng, Pha Yorng Pha Aum and their beloved friends. If we feel thirsty, there some cool water (of heart) they alreay prepared for us. All the delicious food they make for us. While we are working hard with the camp activities, they never do less in the outdoor kitchen. We just cannot imagine if we do not have their big help as always. :-D

We want to say thanks a lot to all the lovely kids whose smiles and laughter always energise us to continue our teaching work. This kind of big celebration will return again if you still keep stuying hard and paying attention on learning as you have been doing. Do not forget to work harder for your better days and your families.

Our thankful expression shall also go to our host family who are very friendly and caring to us, providing us more than accomodation and delicious food but lots of valuable things to remember.

Sincerely, we never forget to say 'thank you very much' to Lung Garn and other lovely and supportive villagers who always understand and encourage us to carry off our mission as always. We are delightedly touched by all of the kind distribution everyone gives to us.

Last but not least, all of us--campers and staff-- would like to take this opportunitiy to express our thank to Ajarn Metee Kansa for including us in this charity project, cultivating and encouraging us to learn how to give more and take less.

Until the PLW#2 comes
